Today is World MS Day

Today (May 26, 2010) is World MS Day.  This morning, Paula Cortner from the Oklahoma Chapter of the National MS Society joins Jason between 7am and 9am.

The Oklahoma Chapter was chartered in 1954 and has approximately 3,000 registered clients with a diagnosis of MS. Including clients, family, friends and associated, the chapter annually serves more that 21,000 people affected by the disease. The chapter currently manages a variety of programs, which range from information and education to self-help groups and financial assistance to assist clients across the continuum of MS. We offer programs that follow the Mutiple Sclerosis Internation Federation (MIF) Principles to Promote the Quality of Life of People with Multiple Sclerosis.

Stamp Out Hunger!

This Saturday the National Association of Letter Carriers will carry something more than just the mail. They carry millions of pounds of donated food to Food Banks
across the nation in the largest one-day food drive in the country, Stamp Out Hunger.

Don’t forget to put a sack full of non-perishable food by your mailbox that morning and your letter carrier will deliver it either to the Food Bank or to an emergency pantry in your community.   In the Tulsa area, some of that food will be delivered to the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

To help spread the word about the Stamp Out Hunger! food drive virally, send yourself a text message reminder.

Participants who text STAMP6 to 30305 will receive:

  • An initial confirmation message
  • A reminder message one week before the drive
  • A second reminder the day prior to the drive
  • A thank you message the Monday following the drive on their mobile device.

Visit www.cfbeo.org for more information of the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma and Saturday’s food drive.
