LOOK Musical Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1983 by John and Jane Carmichael Everitt. The mission of The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Tulsa d/b/a LOOK Musical Theatre is to preserve and promote the musical theatre style genre, to the end that current and future audiences, performers, and production members gain an enhanced understanding of the role of musical theatre within a variety of cultural contexts.

The LOOK Festival is made up of vibrant, professional performances created originally for Tulsa. The shows run as a part of SummerStage at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. LOOK employs local and national talent for the summer LOOK Festival held at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center during June and July.

LOOK is governed by an elected Board of Directors and managed by Artistic Director, Eric Gibson. LOOK is a member of the Arts and Humanities Council of Tulsa.

In 1997, the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Tulsa inaugurated Light Opera Oklahoma (LOOK), in association with The University of Tulsa, to present professional performances in repertory fashion. Produced by professional artistic, technical, and marketing personnel, LOOK employs over 90 professional and apprentice performers and technicians annually.

LOOK’s 25-piece orchestral forces are drawn from the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra. LOOK often recruits dancers from the Tulsa Ballet and features a children’s chorus. The 2011 production of EVITA featured a cast of 20 talented children from Tulsa area schools.

Productions take place in the Williams and Norman Theatres of the Tulsa Performing Arts Center in downtown Tulsa. Cabaret performances take place at the Norman Theatre of the PAC during the summer. An annual Valentine’s Day Cabaret is held at Harwelden Mansion each year, offering delicious food and wine with live entertainment by favorite LOOK artists.

Visit www.looktheatre.org for more information about the 2013 season.

Prevent Blindness Oklahoma (PBO) is the only non-profit organization in Oklahoma dedicated exclusively to saving the precious gift of sight. Vision problems can hinder Oklahoma’s children in many ways. Identifying and helping to correct vision problems in our youth ensures that the children of Oklahoma enjoy life and enter the learning environment with every advantage possible.

Proceeds from Sip for Sight help to provide free vision screening to thousands of Oklahoma children every year! During the 2010–2011 school year, PBO’s cornerstone project, the Children’s Vision Screening program, provided free vision screenings for 278,698 of Oklahoma’s children and referred over 30,000 to eye care professionals for further care! These numbers represent an increase of over 20,000 screenings from the previous year. Prevent Blindness Oklahoma is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and receives no state, federal, or United Way funding. PBO relies on donations from individual donors, corporations and foundations to help support our programs and services. In the coming years, the number of people affected by the eye problems that are the leading causes of blindness will double. By the year 2030, twice as many people will be blind as are today. Most eye problems can be corrected if they are detected and treated early. Some problems, if left untreated even for a short period can result in permanent vision loss. PBO is committed to providing help and hope to all Oklahomans as they strive to maintain healthy vision for a lifetime. Thank you for your support! Did you know? Many children do not realize that they have vision problems. One in four school age children has a vision problem. 70% of all juvenile delinquents have an undiagnosed vision problem. One in twenty preschool age children has a vision problem. Eye disorders, if left undiscovered and untreated, can negatively affect a child’s personality, learning ability and overall adjustment. 60% of children never receive a screening. Vision disorders are the fourth most common disability in the United States. Blindness is the most feared disability: however, nearly one-half of these incidences could have been prevented. Now more than ever we need your help! Sip for Sight proceeds benefit Oklahoma’s children through on-going free vision screenings for sight-crippling afflictions. Your generous sponsorship of Sip for Sight will continue to help provide screenings for Oklahoma’s children.
